About Cusco
Cusco, the "Historical Capital of Peru," is a city steeped in history and culture, with a population of approximately 430,000 people. Once the heart of the Inca Empire, Cusco's rich cultural heritage is reflected in its blend of ancient Inca ruins and colonial architecture. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for landmarks such as the Qorikancha temple and the iconic Sacsayhuamán fortress.
At an altitude of 3,400 meters, Cusco is surrounded by the breathtaking Andes mountains. Cusco is a major transportation hub for the region, with frequent flights connecting it to Lima and other cities. Additionally, it serves as the gateway to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Travelers can embark on the renowned Inca Trail or take a scenic train ride to reach this iconic archaeological site. The Sacred Valley, a nearby area filled with picturesque towns and ancient ruins, further enhances Cusco's appeal as a destination.
